When it comes to driving a car every day, a car that both feels like it’s a race car, but at the same time you can still buy groceries with the family – Porsche has done a phenomenal job.

Comparing Porsche 911 to super cars like Ferrari 458, McLaren 570S, or Lamborghini Huracan – certain 911 models drives just as fast, but look like “yet another Porsche”.

There is a fundamental statement when driving a car like Ferrari, McLaren or Lamborghini; price and speed aside – they draw attention, and perhaps too much of it. You see – McLaren sold only 1,649 cars in 2014, while there are tens of thousands of Porsches sold annually. By definition, Porsche attracts less attention, as it’s just something you see more of.

But some of those 911s drive really fast, specifically the GT3 (or GT3 RS) and Turbo S.

The GT3 model is known for being a fast and a raw racing car for tracks, while the new generation of it (introduced in Geneva Motor Show in 2013) was starting to look like something you can actually use every day on the road. It goes to 60 mph in 3.3 seconds, it has 475 hp, and it appreciates $20k-$25k a year (yes – it appreciates!). It’s much faster than the regular 911 or even the S or GTS versions, and then again quite raw, built with a large exterior rear wing, making sure people know you’re driving a “special 911”.

The Turbo S on the other hand is known for being the fastest manufactured 911 while being luxurious and convenient for a daily drive. The Turbo S will take you to 60 mph at 2.9 seconds (the only 911 that gets to 60 mph in less than 3 seconds) with 560 hp, and even 4 wheel drive. Fast & furious, yes, but sadly will not appreciate over time.

The GT3 and Turbo S are fast, beautiful but different. It’s almost like comparing people who watched “Seinfeld” to people who watched “Friends”, both are funny, were very successful – but so different.

GT3 or Turbo S, racing model or luxury build, fast or really-really-fast, designed for tracks or rounded & safe?

Porsche may have just created an internal competition for consumers, instead of fighting McLaren, Lamborghini and Ferrari – these models fight each other.

What do you think? comment your thoughts – GT3 or Turbo S.

There is a lot of talk these days about saving power, or rather finding ways for us to ‘consume more’ while ‘burning less’.

Companies such as Tesla Motors have been building an entire business on the premise that people would want to sustain a desirable lifestyle, driving fast & furious, without stopping once for fuel – commercializing electric cars. 2 months ago, Tesla Motors announced going beyond the car business, and offering people to also buy their proprietary batteries, same ones used in their supercars – called Tesla Powerwall.

The best way to think of Tesla’s batteries is instead of using one big cell to charge something, they use thousands of small lithium-ion cells, same standard ones that can be found in our laptops or phones. They made those batteries better, and they are currently provided solely to Tesla by Panasonic, one of their investors.

When you travel far away from America, to places such as Africa, or more specifically heaven such as Seychelles, saving power and taking care of the environment is a big deal. But also sustaining a desirable lifestyle. On quite a massive jungle-like part of Mahe island, at the Four Seasons , there is an amazing resort with 100+ rechargeable buggies; they drive about 15 km per hour, for about 4-8 hours (pending how hard you use them), and it takes about 9 hours to charge them.

I asked a great guy driving one of these if he would mind telling me a bit about the buggy, and if they use Tesla batteries. He wasn’t really into the Tesla idea 🙂 and I got to admit, I’m also not a Tesla guy; to be frank – who wants a car that makes no noise. But 20+ hours flight from America, over there in Seychelles … there is a guy who can tell you about electric cars (buggies) just as passionately as Elon Musk.

I totally enjoyed it, and hope you do too.

My Kingdom For a Mustang? https://charliealpharomeo.com/uncategorized/my-kingdom-for-a-mustang/ https://charliealpharomeo.com/uncategorized/my-kingdom-for-a-mustang/#respond Mon, 08 Jun 2015 18:02:27 +0000 http://live-charlie-alpha-romeo.pantheonsite.io/?p=446 In line with the long and successful tradition of new car video reviews delivered by our (very) Junior Editorial team, here’s the 2015 Mustang GT Premium Fastback coverage:

As you can see, It’s a 2015 GT Premium Fastback/Performance Package/50th Anniversary/401/Manual/Black on Black on Black with some black too.

Pros:
Looks awesome, drives very well, strong power and torque anytime you want it, the familiar Mustang “locomotive” straight line feeling, but this time with very good handling, super sweet gear, very good grip (much of it thanks for the P Zeros), surprisingly well put-together, Sync less horrible than it used to be, very good seats,

Cons:
Ride in slow speeds/city way too harsh with the performance package (much better on highways), Not as fast as the numbers would suggest, 1-3 gears with very short ratios, bigger car but still useless back row, mix of great + subpar materials inside, no sunroof option.

Bottom line:
Great car, don’t get the performance package (too harsh), don’t get the Recaro seats (manual), best value for money sports car for $40k ever, and the looks you get are priceless. Oh, and get it in black.

Guest Post by: Snir Yechiel

Bugatti automobile, although the long way it came from the hand of its founder, Ettore Bugatti to its current owner, automobile giant VW, is still loyal to Ettore’s other principles of car manufacturing. Beside exceptional technology and performance – unique design and use of material, being born to an important Italian artistic family, Ettore naturally inherited his passion and talent for art and design, always applied to it’s incredible automobiles.

Understanding that makes it (a bit) easier to understand the partnership between Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin (KPM), a fine porcelain maker and Bugatti.

The unique cars manufactured by the two, are starting as a “regular” Bugatti (of your choice), which mean its body is still made of carbon fiber and aluminum, but then will be sent to KPM for porcelain coating and design. First car which was produce is known as the Bugatti Veyron grand sport L’or blanc (2011), featuring a unique design lines. Later followed by the all white-porcelain coated Bugatti grand sport Wei-long (2012), which was introduce at the 2012 Beijing auto show.

Now, we bring you exclusive photos of another KPM-Bugatti, spotted while parked outside the Bulgari hotel at Knightsbridge street, London- The 2012 Bugatti Veyron super sport Le Saphir Bleu. There is not much known about it, part from the fact that it’s 2012 model year Veyron super sport, being a “twin” car for the L’or blanc, featuring similar design but this time, light blue on dark (unlike the white on dark blue L’or blanc), this masterpiece is mostly painted by hand, inside and out. What makes it more exclusive is that unlike the other KPM-Bugatti cars (officially introduce), this car was secretly ordered and suddenly appeared at the streets of London (carrying a Gibraltar license plate) and now we bring you its updated and exclusive photos taken just few month back. Bugatti didn’t published the price of this unique creation. However, the price of the Bugatti L’or blanc was stated to be 2.4-2.5 million dollar, as this Le Saphir bleu is based on the 1200 horse power Veyron super sport which carry a price tag higher than the Veyron grand sport, we can assume the price is well over 2.4 million dollar and will probably set you back closer to 3 million dollar.

If you ask me, price will be a temporarily set back for those who are considering a Bugatti, as this one-in-a-life-time Bugatti will likely to be increasing its value in years to come.

The other question to be asked is what other unusual surprises are yet to come from Bugatti automobile ? Hope you enjoy these unique pictures.

Before He Became A Shark – Robert Herjavec Lamborghini Collection https://charliealpharomeo.com/cars/before-he-became-a-shark-robert-herjavec-lamborghini-collection/ https://charliealpharomeo.com/cars/before-he-became-a-shark-robert-herjavec-lamborghini-collection/#respond Tue, 27 Jan 2015 17:43:14 +0000 http://live-charlie-alpha-romeo.pantheonsite.io/?p=225 Shark Tank is a very popular show, started back in 2009, produced by Mark Burnett and based on the TV show Dragon’s Den. The show includes a panel of “sharks”, 5 successful entrepreneurs that made hundreds of millions to billions of dollars, now seeking to invest in entrepreneurs coming on the show to present their dream. One of the things that’s unique about the show is that while the sharks are getting paid by the show for their work, if they choose to invest – it’s from their own money.

On the show, we see about 10 minutes per pitch, and it said that in reality the entrepreneur is pitching for about an hour, and after edit it comes down to 10 minutes. Click here to see some common questions the sharks ask on the show.

While the show switched few sharks until they got to their steady american dream team, one shark was always there – Robert Herjavec. In real life, Robert is known for “killing his competition with kindness”, and on the show, even if he turns an entrepreneur down, it’s usually with a non-emotional explanation about why the idea won’t work, or rather why he won’t invest.

During the show, Robert is sharing his huge passion for cars, where he has a collection of cars including, Bentley, Lamborghini, Rolls Royce and others. On his website, you can find quite amazing pictures of his cars, or from a Ferrari Challenge he participated in., and Ferrari even built him a driver page Ferrari page on their site.

Scouting for videos about Robert, we stumbled upon a video shot in 2008 of Robert demonstrating his Lamborghini collection at the time, sharing his passion for cars so we thought we ought to blog about it here at Charlie Alpha Romeo.

Before he became a shark, enjoy.
